Josh and I have lived together since 2018. When we met, Josh was already a seasoned dog walker/dog boarder with a local following. One day, he convinced me to quit my career in retail and join him as a pet care professional, which I was very qualified to do. We've been a pet care power couple ever since.
We are vocally thankful every day for the happy life we've built loving pets in our neighborhood. Each new client match is like gaining a family member, and we can't get enough of it! Friends laugh when they try to walk down the sidewalk with either one of us; we are inevitably recognized by dogs who are VERY happy to see us. This work really does bring us joy every day!
In the first photo I saw of Josh, he was hugging a Bernese Mountain Dog with a big smile on his face. We've been partners since 2017, and I can't count how many dogs I've seen him hug now!
Josh received his BFA in Acting from UMBC in 2013, and he has been a Philadelphia-based dog care professional ever since. (When Josh was 6 years old, he had his first role on stage: He played the dog Sandy in a production of ANNIE.)
When he isn't cuddling with the dogs in our home, Josh is teaching/performing improv. He is the creator of ROLL PLAY: AN IMPROVISED ADVENTURE, an all-ages D&D improv comedy show that has delighted audiences in Philadelphia since 2017. Josh also teaches weekly improv classes at the Philadelphia School of Improv, as well as on-location classes and workshops for inner city schools, teen and adult neurodivergent organizations, business professionals, etc.
Josh has a gift for cultivating joy through guided expression. Dogs can sense how friendly he is from a mile away.
I'm the friend folks call for help with unwanted critters and fixing stuff. (If you've noticed trash cans in Fitler Square where someone replaced the missing handle with poop bags knotted together - That was me! They've held up for over a year!)
I studied Zoology/Field Biology with a pre-vet option at Oklahoma State University, finishing in '08. I have animal husbandry experience with freshwater fish, lizards, snakes, turtles, birds, insects, small mammals, and domestic pets.
I've volunteered with homeless dogs and cats at shelters/adoption events. I've cared for domestic and exotic pets in many contexts: As the OSU exotics caretaker, on the team at a cats-only vet clinic, as a pet care consultant in retail, and as an only child helping out with chickens, cattle, sheep, horses, dogs, etc. on the farm. I have a hoard of FFA Animal Husbandry medals around here somewhere!
When I'm not with dogs or friends, I invest my spare time in home improvement projects, yardwork, art classes, improv classes, cooking, and beadweaving.
